UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors wear out over time and will need to be replaced. In this case, it is essential that the new handles are in line with the exact dimensions of the previous handle.
The three measurements to check are the top screw's position, lever and key hole dimensions. Use the size guide to aid you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever/lever door handle is a modern handle that can be put in on doors that are new or replacement. This style door handle is offered in a variety of designs and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite handles are made from durable materials, and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a robust design. The handles are inline and they utilize the same screws and spindle to fix them. They are easily fitted on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.
The handle can be positioned and angled to fit all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, this allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish as well as the performance of the handle over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever can be used on doors with a latch that can be activated with the thumb on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently to the lever type handles on doors. These handle types are either operated by a single spindle or by two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually employed on UPVC double-glazed doors and come in many variations & finishes.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability for its intended use.
All UPVC lever pads for handles include a spindle and screws and can be installed on a uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is usually a benefit when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have springs, which eliminate the problem of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when not in use.
When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important to match the correct handles.
After you have determined the correct size of PZ and the correct PZ size, you must ensure that the lever and push pads are shaped to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are usually round or square, with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position when not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the building. It is also the case that the majority of the UPVC lever pad handles are hand-operated, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are usually used on uPVC doors, but can also be found on other types of door. Cylinder locks are operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned with those in the lock and allow them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with external and internal doors generally needing different levels of security.
The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this depends on the way your doors and handle are utilized. External doors, for instance should be equipped with cylinders with greater security while doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can improve security, like anti drill or anti bump properties.
A euro cylinder needs to be measured accurately to ensure it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place, but if this is not possible, you can remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, therefore it is important to make sure it's not too long.
Most newer cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features included in their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of a attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in an opposite direction. This will help to deflect an attack and ensure your door is secure.
There are also repairmywindowsanddoors that have been designed to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and more straightforward than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a break-in which can hinder an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to bring your multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after use. Previously a lot of handles did not have a spring integrated into them and without this they are more likely to slide or drop once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This component is the best solution to solve this issue. It also prevents your door from getting stuck in either the closed or open position as they aren't easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please see the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution to broken or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are fitted with an elongated square that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are available in a variety of.
